The Bug Corridor
The Western Bug is the Polish-Ukrainian border from Sokal to Brest, and for that whole stretch it is also the last line Russia cannot cross without striking NATO. Ukraine's western supply chain runs up to it. The Lublin–Chełm–Dorohusk–Yahodyn–Kovel road and rail corridor carries most of what Europe sends east, and the crossing at Dorohusk is the main gate.
The map shows the corridor, the two Russian drone strikes of 13 September, and a one kilometre margin along the Ukrainian side of the river. Both strikes sit inside that margin. One landed 800 metres from Polish soil. The band is not a buffer zone or a rule. It is simply the distance Russia has shown it will work to.
West of the Bug, NATO. East of it, Ukraine's rear, exposed. The border is the shield for the corridor and the limit of Russian reach in the same stroke.
